Overhead Travelling Cranes that are remote or pendant controlled and have no more than three functions do not require the operator to have certification. However, OH&S legislation requires employers to provide adequate and safe instruction to operators of this type of equipment, and thus an employer must not allow an employee to operate a crane without providing proper training.
