Operate and maintain chainsaws
Chainsaw operation is a high-risk work activity and training in its safe use is a regulatory requirement. In this course, participants are provided with the skills and underpinning knowledge to safely operate a chainsaw in the workplace.
Learners who successfully complete this course, will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the above unit of competency.
The course objective is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to select chainsaw & safety equipment that meet regulatory guidelines, carry out pre-start inspections, conduct daily maintenance, re-sharpen a chainsaw chain and cross-cut fallen timber on the ground.
The course is conducted over 8 hours and includes theory and practical. The theoretical components will be conducted face-to face in the classroom and all practical elements will be demonstrated, practiced and assessed in a simulated environment or approved workplace location.
Training can be conducted at one of our training centres or on your premises provided certain requirements are met.
Learners must undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment to assist in determining suitability.
Birth Certificate, Drivers Licence or Passport must be presented as evidence of ID.
Learners will require safety boots, long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt.
