Course Overview

This course is designed to provide learners with the fundamental knowledge and skills required by an operator to carry out tasks associated with the civil construction plant operation on a range of machines.

The following employment pathways available to learners who complete this qualification may include:

  • Civil construction plant operator

Learners have to complete a total of 20 units made up from:

  • RIICCM201F Carry out measurements and calculations
  • RIICCM202E Identify, locate and protect underground services
  • RIICCM203E Read and interpret plans and job specifications
  • RIICCM205F Carry out manual excavation
  • RIICCM206E Support plant operations
  • RIICCM207E Spread and compact materials manually
  • RIICCM208E Carry out basic levelling
  • RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace
  • RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes
  • RIISAM201E Handle resources and infrastructure materials and safely dispose of nontoxic materials
  • RIISAM203E Use hand and power tools
  • RIISAM204E Operate small plant and equipment
  • RIIWHS201E Work safely and follow WHS policies & procedures
  • RIIWMG203E Drain and dewater civil construction site

The course duration will depend on the individuals experience of machine operation or working in the civil construction or similar industries and will be determined during the enrolment process.
Learners have 12 months to complete the course.

Training Location

Training is conducted at our Laverton training centre.

Learners must be over the age of 16.

Learners must undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment to assist in determining suitability.

Birth Certificate, Drivers Licence or Passport must be presented as evidence of ID.
